upermarket Morrisons has become the latest in a line of retailers to stop selling disposable barbecues temporarily due to the punishing temperatures and tinder box weather conditions.
The company will bring in an all out ban until weather conditions cool after a trail suspension earlier this year.
In a statement the group, said: “In March we announced the removal of disposable barbecues from all of our stores within one mile of National Parks to help prevent wildfires.
“In light of the long dry spell in the UK this summer we are temporarily removing disposable barbecues from all stores until further notice.”
An official drought has now been called in the UK and London is set to swelter through 36 degree heat this weekend.

Both the largest UK supermarket Tesco and its rival Sainsbury’s have removed the summer favourite from their shelves due to the risk of out of control wildfires. Aldi and Marks & Spencer and Waitrose stepped in early to remove the items from their stores.
Tesco said: “Once weather conditions allow, disposable barbecues will be made available again.”
Its also said that small metal portable barbecues remained on sale as an “alternative.”
A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s added: “As a precautionary measure we are removing from sale all disposable barbecues until further notice.
“Safety is our highest priority and we have made this decision due to the hot and dry weather that we are currently experiencing across the country.”
