Former Ladbrokes and Greene King finance chief to step down as Lookers chairman

The former finance chief of Ladbrokes and Greene King is to step down as chairman of car retail giant Lookers for personal reasons.

Ian Bull will leave his role on December 31, 2022, having held the position since October last year.

During his career he has also served as chief financial officer at Parkdean Holidays and held a variety of financial and operational roles with BT Group, Walt Disney and Whitbread.

He is also currently senior independent director and a non-executive director at Domino’s Pizza as well as a non-executive director at Dunelm.

Mr Bull will be succeeded on an interim basis by Paul Van der Burgh while Sue Farr will become interim senior independent director.

Lookers said it will now start a search for a new chairman.

Mr Van der Burgh has previously served as president and managing director of Toyota (GB).

Mr Bull said: “I am sorry to be leaving at this exciting time for Lookers, with the business trading well and continuing to perform strongly.”

Mr Van der Burgh added: “Ian has been instrumental in helping us to develop and implement our strategic priorities.

“I would like to thank him on behalf of the board and wish him well for the future.”
