A company whose team specialises in working at height and in confirmed spaces has been acquired by a Manchester risk management specialist.
UbiQ Group, based in Stoke-on-Trent, has a team of 20 staff who can carry out tasks such as inspections, surveys, maintenance and cleaning in difficult locations, such as on water or where rope access is needed. The 20-strong team works in sectors including railways and energy, while staff have worked on projects at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur’s stadiums.
Now UbiQ has been sold to British Engineering Services (BES) Group, and will become part of its Warrington-based infrastructure division.
BES, which is headquartered in Manchester and has sites as far afield as South Shields and the Isle of Wight, says acquiring UbiQ will grow its suite of risk management services.
Jamie Holland, UbiQ Group director, said: “We are extremely excited to become part of a business that focuses on the same things we do and has done for many years.
“Continuing to provide our customers with the same level of service is our ongoing priority and we are now looking forward to doing this with the support of BES Group.”
John Campbell, BES Group CEO, said: “We would like to extend a very warm welcome to the UbiQ team and we are extremely pleased to have them on board. They bring with them a range of impressive skills that will really support the wider BES Group.”
The deal was advised on by mergers and acquisition specialist KBS Corporate, with the transaction overseen by associate director Nathan Leah.
He said: “It was a pleasure to work with UbiQ directors Jamie Holland and Stuart Alcock throughout the project. They have built an excellent business which showed consistent growth and development from its foundation.
“BES Group was the perfect acquirer in reality and showed keen interest from our first engagement. It was a pleasure to work with them also.
“I wish all parties nothing but the best for the future and during the next stages of integration and development.
“A special thanks as always to Guvvy Sandhu and Harriet Jones of Mackrell Solicitors for their continued support, diligence and collaboration.”
