American burger chain, Five Guys, is planning to open its fourth outlet in Liverpool. Planning documents submitted to the city council reveal that the popular brand is eyeing a new location at Liverpool Shopping Park, Edge Lane following the success of its existing locations at Liverpool One, Queen Square, and New Mersey Retail Park in Speke.

The Speke branch opened in August, marking another milestone in the company’s significant UK expansion.

Menu favourites include the classic cheeseburger, an all-beef hot dog, and a bunless lettuce-wrapped burger. Known for its milkshakes, with flavours ranging from Oreo to fresh strawberries and even bacon, the business has also operated in Bromborough since 2023 and has an outlet in Cheshire Oaks.

The proposed Edge Lane restaurant would feature drive-thru service, with plans including the installation of signage and LED boards around the building, in the familiar red and white colour scheme. A date for consideration of the plans by Liverpool Council planning officials has not yet been confirmed.

Five Guys is set to be the latest addition to the revamped shopping park, joining other food vendors such as Subway, Costa, Frankie and Benny’s, and Greggs. The shopping park’s £11m makeover was announced in June, including a revamp of the existing Hollywood Bowl, reports the Liverpool Echo.

This summer, the local authority greenlit plans for a complete reconfiguration of the unit into a new 35,000sq ft bowling and leisure facility, with a new 20-year lease agreed. Tesla is also on track to open a new 20,000sq ft car showroom at the site, having secured a 20-year lease.

The proposed Five Guys restaurant would operate on a 15-year lease, pending city council approval, with an expected opening date in early 2025.
