The deal cements a long standing relationship between Analox and the MoD, its biggest customer, and also represents the firm’s biggest contract award in its 40-year history.
It will see Analox develop one of the most sophisticated submarine atmosphere monitors in the world, the AA (Atmosphere Analyser) as part of a FAMS (Fixed Atmosphere Monitoring System) contract.
The FAMS contract will use pioneering technology to solve the gas sensing challenges onboard a submarine, to ensure the safety of those on board. The system will use state of the art sensors, offering real time analysis to the crew, enabling them to react quickly to take action to make the atmosphere safe.
Vicky Pigg, managing director of Analox’s military business, said the contract has been 10 years in the making and marks a monumental milestone for the firm.
She said: “We are delighted to have secured such a prestigious contract with the MoD and the whole Analox team is excited to deliver a system which will safeguard the lives of our submariners.
“It will require some changes within Analox, but with change comes the opportunity for growth and development and every single person at Analox is up for the challenge.
“The FAMS contract is the perfect example of the MoD delivering on its commitment to the government and SMEs alike, this action plan opens doors for companies like Analox and we are proud to be flying the flag for the SME community.”
The contract has created seven new roles and it will create an additional four within the next two years. It has also offered job security to the Analox team, sustaining five roles within the business.
Rear Admiral Paul Halton, director submarine support in the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), said: “We within the SDA look forward to working with Analox, utilising this cutting-edge technology to drive continuous improvement in asset availability.
“This supports the SDA’s long-term strategy of improving the effectiveness, life and health of our submariners. The SDA is exceptionally pleased that this contract award has provided job security for Analox and has allowed a key supplier the opportunity to increase UK technology advances and subject matter expertise, something we wish to drive into all contracts we award. We look forward to the next five years.
