Bristol massage business to move to bigger studio in Wapping Wharf
A massage studio is set to move to a bigger premises within Bristol’s harbourside network of independent businesses Wapping Wharf.
Loop Massage will relocate from its outlet in Cargo, a series of converted shipping containers housing eateries and small shops, into one of two new buildings created during the second stage of the mixed-use neighbourhood’s development.
The business, which was launched in Wapping Wharf four years ago by owner Polly Meech, will be based in the ground floor of Hope Quay along Rope Walk.
Ms Meech said the new studio would allow Loop Massage to take on more practitioners and add to the services it provides, including reflexology and facial treatments.
Its new space will include three new treatment ‘pods’ that will reuse some of the old materials from its previous studios, including linen canopies, oak frames and birch screens, to create “a haven of tranquillity”.
Ms Meech initially came across Wapping Wharf on a Sunday walk around the city in 2016 and has been a part of the community since its early days.
She said: “Wapping Wharf has been so important for Loop and I feel so lucky that I walked that way that day.
“I’m passionate about massage and how it can help people, so I’ve worked hard to make Loop a beacon for great massage in Bristol, attracting the brilliant, loyal customer base we are so grateful for, but the location has certainly helped it to flourish too.
“It’s a wonderful community filled with independents spearheaded by Stuart, our landlord, who has always been incredibly supportive, particularly during this difficult past year.”
Loop Massage will neighbour independent book shop Bookhaus, which is also set to open in Hope Quay. The shop welcomed the news on its Twitter profile by posting: “Massages + Books surely means we’ll have the most relaxing block in Bristol”.
Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer of Wapping Wharf, added: “I’m so pleased to see Loop Massage going from strength-to-strength at Wapping Wharf.
“We always envisaged Cargo would be a place for new and emerging businesses to try out new ideas and concepts and it’s brilliant to see Polly’s venture having been so warmly received by the city.
“Her very loyal customer base is testament to how much energy, enthusiasm and commitment she shows and we are sure the new Loop will be a resounding success.”
Wapping Wharf is now home to more than 40 independent restaurants, shop, cafes and lifestyle businesses.
