CIPD North East of England Awards back in full to recognise best of region’s people practice

The hunt is now under way for the best examples of HR and development in the North East with the launch of the 2022 CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards.

And the annual event – one of the most prestigious awards to showcase the talents of the region’s businesses – will be held face-to-face once more, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Last year’s CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards were held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the hugely popular awards will be live once again this June at The Fed in Gateshead.

This year’s event – sponsored by Jackson Hogg, Lynn Bennett Resourcing, Defence Relationship Management, Northumberland County Council, People Spark Solutions, Sullivan Brown Resourcing Partners and Womble Bond Dickinson – features 10 categories.

Categories available to enter include HR&D Team of the Year, Excellence in Organisational & People Development and Excellence in Inclusivity & Diversity.

Last year’s winners included Northumbrian Water, Cundall and END clothing.

The co-chairs for CIPD North East Branch Committee, Elouise Leonard-Cross and Sarah Carnegie, welcomed the return of the awards.

They said: “After an incredibly tough two years we are delighted to once again be launching the CIPD North East HR&D Awards as a face-to-face event.

“In 2021 we held an online awards, wanting to ensure great work was still recognised, and knowing that our awards represent our professional community in a significant way. This year we know that people are looking to reconnect and celebrate.

“The People Profession truly stepped up to the challenge of Covid, working in totally unknown environments and supporting the health and wellbeing of their workforce. This year we encourage applications from all sizes of businesses, across the region, of any work or projects over the last two years.

“Totally free to enter, with a simple submission form, the awards allow people to stop and reflect on achievements and importantly come together to celebrate.

“We will be working with a team of expert professionals as our judging panel along with our amazing sponsors, who passionately champion the importance of better work and working lives.

“Planning is well under way for our awards evening taking place on June 30, as ever we will be investing in special experiences and details that do truly make it a unique event. We are delighted to be supporting an iconic North East venue, which has undergone significant transformation but represents the successful and innovative spirit of our region – The Fed in Gateshead.”
