A broadband operator in Gloucestershire is set to invest up to £3.3m to roll out its full fibre network in Tewkesbury.
Netomnia, which is headquartered in the town, said firms and residents in more than 11,000 premises could benefit from “ultrafast” multi-gigabit connectivity. It added the move would enable the area to sustain and attract new businesses.
The company makes wholesale connectivity available to internet service providers, building the infrastructure for their broadband services.
The firm will partner with telecommunications firm Light Source on the build.
Chief executive Jeremy Chelot said: “Tewkesbury is a particularly special location for the team as it is home to Netomnia HQ. As an area with high economic activity and a lot of skilled workers, access to fast and reliable broadband speeds is crucial.
“We’re proud to be building our network to residents and businesses in Tewkesbury, with technology that will support them for decades to come.”

The firm, in partnership with major UK construction companies, is aiming to bring ultrafast broadband to under-served towns and cities and become become the third national full fibre network operator in the UK.
The company covers four other South West locations, including Cheltenham and Stroud in Gloucestershire, Frome in Somerset, and Trowbridge in Wiltshire.
