A restaurant located on the edge of the Lake District has been awarded three Michelin stars.
L’Enclume, which is based in Cartmel, has been honoured in the latest Michelin Guide.
The eatery is run by head chef Simon Rogan and is the only restaurant to be upgraded to three stars this year.

Mr Rogan said: “At L’Enclume we use ingredients from our 12 acre farm, which was designed by chefs, for chefs; along with local suppliers for meat and fish.
“We have continually developed preserving methods over the past decade to enable us to extend the time we can rely on our own growing.”
The Michelin Guide said: “Few restaurants represent the region in which they’re located more than L’Enclume and the Lake District.
“The cooking in this lovely old smithy has never stopped evolving and the energy emanating from the kitchen is as palpable as ever.
“Classic dishes have been reworked and refined, while stunning new dishes have slotted seamlessly into the set menu.
“Simon Rogan may have interests in other parts of the world, but his passion for his first restaurant remains undimmed – as does his commitment to Cartmel and his nearby 12-acre farm which produces so much of the superb produce that clearly inspires the kitchen.
“The enthusiasm and obvious pride of the youthful service team further enhance the experience, an experience made even more memorable if you stay in one of the bedrooms spread about the village.”
The 2022 edition of the guide also confirms that Moor Hall, which is based in Lancashire, has retained its two Michelin stars.
The Aughton eatery is run by head chef Mark Birchall.
Village pub The Dog and Gun Inn, which is located in Skelton, Cumbria, has won its first Michelin star.
The guide said the award was given for its “satisfying, flavour-filled dishes”.
Aughton’s The Barn, which has been described as the more informal sister to Moor Hall, has also won one Michelin star.
