Learning Pool buys New York Stock Exchange spin off company

A north west online learning company has bought a New York peer for an undisclosed sum.

Learning Pool has acquired True Office Learning, a compliance technology firm which counts some of the US’s largest multinationals amongst its clients.

The US firm was spun out of the New York Stock Exchange True Office and offers online training for employees on compliance issues, using artificial intelligence to improve and tailor the effectiveness of its programmes.

“True Office Learning represents a significant step in our journey to create extraordinary outcomes for companies who invest in learning,” Learning Pool CEO Ben Betts said. “The True Office Learning team has developed the most trusted and innovative offering in the compliance space today and we couldn’t be more excited about bringing the technology and team into our Stream Learning Suite.”

The acquisition is the fifth in a series of purchases over the last five years by Learning Pool which includes another US company Remote Learner which saw the company expand its presence in the region.

It comes after a significant investment in the business by Marlin Equity Partners in summer 2021.

Learning Pool was founded in Londonderry in 2006 by Paul McIlvaney, who remains the firms Group CEO.

It provides a range of digital learning products and services for organisations including global brands like The FA, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Sky, and Swiss Re. It creates onboarding learning, rigorous compliance training, and meaningful skills development opportunities for more than 5 million people every year.

Mark Lynch, Chief Product Officer at Learning Pool, said the acquisition offers a number of synergies.

“True Office Learning has found a way to develop an action-orientated compliance solution that yields great data for their clients while optimizing seat-time,” he said. “The behavioural insights that a company can use to measure and manage risk through True Office Learning’s solutions can also be used behind the scenes to tailor and personalise the learning experience for others.

“Learning Pool has put data at the heart of our strategy for years; True Office Learning builds upon this platform to give us an unrivalled base from which to innovate and continue to deliver meaningful results by using AI and increasingly advanced machine learning techniques”.

Neha Gupta, True Office Learning CEO, welcomed the takeover.

“The opportunity to combine our solutions with Learning Pool’s LXP technology, Stream, represents a significant leap forward for our combined customers. We are excited to take our shared passion for innovation, customer centricity and delivering extraordinary outcomes forward to build the future of enterprise learning.”
