Newcastle renewables company Engenera to expand into Scotland
A Tyneside renewable energy company has announced plans to create around 20 new jobs amid expansion into Scotland.
Engenera Renewables Group, based in Newburn, Newcastle, is set to open a new office in Glasgow later this month, with the company starting to recruit for the new roles soon.
Engenera works as a decarbonisation partner with large companies looking to reduce their carbon emissions and operate using cleaner, greener energy.

The business has worked with the likes of Nissan, Eddie Stobart and Faerch Group to develop long-term decarbonisation plans.
In Scotland, the company has already worked with Greenock-based confectionary company Golden Casket, alongside Inverclyde Council and Historic Environment Scotland, to complete a solar installation at its listed-building headquarters.
Engenera said it is close to agreeing a number of long-term deals with several public sector bodies in Scotland, including a number of social housing associations.
The business has invested heavily in its technical skills and expertise. It now works closely with clients on a range of renewable technologies, including commercial solar and battery storage; air and ground source heat pumps; combined heat and power; electric vehicle charging points; and LED lighting.
Engenera is also one of the few renewable energy companies in the UK able to offer renewable energy installations at no capital outlay to customers able to sign power purchase agreements (PPAs), because it can access a £100m green bond programme financed by multiple PPAs arranged by Engenera.

CEO Bryan Glendenning said: “On the back of increasingly ambitious government targets, companies are being offered more and more incentives to embrace green energy and reduce their carbon footprint. With the funding we also have in place, via our £100m green bond programme, we are in an almost unique position in that we can help companies achieve their aims by using a range of technologies at no upfront cost.”
Lloyd Lawson, chief strategy officer at Engenera, added: “As we start to expand our physical presence, launching in Scotland was a natural move.
“As a proud Scot myself, I am delighted to be able to open this office in Glasgow and it will be exciting to start to hire some fantastic talent and make a real difference to the economy in Scotland – both through job creation and by helping companies embrace green energy.”
