A Tyneside tech firm has moved into Newcastle’s newest office building after taking desks in Cubo’s workspace.

Flow Software Solutions Ltd, a provider of SaaS (software as a service) solutions for the compliance sector, has relocated to Cubo at Bank House to support the company’s rapid growth. Cubo, which now has 13 sites across the UK, has 20,000 sqft of open plan workspaces on the top two floors of the 14-storey building.

Paul King, co-founder of Flow Software Solutions Ltd, said: “Our new headquarters are a significant milestone for Flow, highlighting our progress and future ambitions. Since joining Cubo, we’ve settled in exceptionally well. With the addition of two new team members – Amber, my sister, handling our marketing, and Lucy, my executive assistant – we were ready for a larger, more dynamic space.

  • “Our new office provides a welcoming environment for our clients and also aligns perfectly with our company values. The atmosphere here is relaxed and vibrant, ensuring no Sunday dread before returning to work. Cubo has truly provided the ideal setting for our team to thrive.

“Since we’re all keen cyclists, the cycle facilities have been a massive hit with the team. We’ve also started ‘The Stair Challenge’, making it our mission to walk up the 12 flights of stairs daily. Our second co-founder, David King, already holds the record for all the businesses on the 12th floor for the fastest stair climb (1:28).”

Marc Brough, CEO of Cubo, added: “We are delighted to welcome Flow Software Solutions to Cubo Newcastle at Bank House. It is great to know that they are impressed with our Grade A location, together with our unbelievable centre team and our many members perks.”

Meanwhile, a digital agency has opened new headquarters in Sunderland as it gears up for growth. Phonetic Digital, which provides website design and development, digital marketing and training services, has moved into Mackie’s Corner in Sunderland city centre with the support of the council.

Founded by Steven Parker, the business currently has two members of staff and plans to grow to double figures over the next three years.

Mr Parker said: “I’m from Sunderland and wanted the business to be based here. The support we’ve had from businesses based in the city has been brilliant. For me it is about wanting to create a sustainable business, and that’s sustainable in the sense of our people, our environment, and our finances.

“We were always going to set up in Sunderland and we will always be based in the city. We want to create more and better jobs and have a positive impact in the city.

“I love what has been done here at Mackie’s Corner. It’s a building I remember coming to every weekend over 20 years’ ago, so to see it brought back to life in the way it has is great and that also aligns with our values around sustainability.”
