Poundland is planning to open a store in Bristol near to a branch that it closed two years ago.
The budget brand said the new shop at Avonmeads Retail Park, in St Philips Causeway, would be “substantially bigger” than the previous one.
At more than 12,000 square feet, it is much larger than a typical Poundland store and the fashion section PEP&CO will be twice the size of the store that shut in 2020, Poundland said.
The new store, which was previously occupied by clothing retailer Outfit, will employ more than 20 full and part-time staff. The branch will open on Saturday, April 23.
Poundland’s retail and transformation director, Austin Cooke, said: “It’s great to be back at Bristol Avonmeads with one of our biggest and best stores where customers will be able to enjoy a wide range of items at our amazing value and do more of their shopping in a single trip.
“Bristol is one of the UK’s great cities and one where we’ve built up a tremendous relationship with our customers. Avonmeads is a great addition to our network of stores in the city and across the South West.”
As well as selling womenswear, menswear and kidswear, it will also have a dedicated PEP&CO Home department featuring the latest 2022 ranges including kitchen storage options, faux plants, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.
Poundland already has a number of stores in Bristol, including Bristol Union Gate, Bristol Galleries, 82-92 Horsefair, Bedminster, Knowle and Filton.
