A new restaurant that mixes Indian gastronomy with BBQ is set to open in Gloucestershire next month. JM Socials, the group behind Cheltenham eateries Prithvi, Bhoomi Kitchen, BAO + BBQ, Circo, and The Mayflower, is preparing to open its latest venture in Bishop’s Cleeve in the new year.
Jai Ho will offer a menu centred on Indian BBQ small plates, alongside a selection of other dishes. It is the eleventh restaurant for JM Socials, which was founded by long-time friends and self-declared “die-hard foodies” Michael Raphel and Jay Rahman.
The duo operate sites across Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
Mr Rahman, co-owner of JM Socials, said: “Our goal with this new venture is to build on the success of Prithvi and our other Cheltenham restaurants by offering a relaxed neighbourhood dining experience, with high-quality food and a welcoming atmosphere.
“While the concept will differ from our existing restaurant offerings, we are excited to bring that same creativity and care to Bishop’s Cleeve – becoming part of the local community’s go-to destination for quality food and service.”
In February, JM Socials opened its second restaurant in Oxford, Dosa Darlings. Based on the Cowley Road, the venue serves up dishes from the south Indian state of Kerala as well as offering cocktails.
In 2021, the company announced it would be turning waste food and non-recyclable packaging into electricity in all of its restaurants. JM Socials said at the time it started the green initiative because it wanted to make sure none of its waste was sent to landfill.
