The LeicestershireLive Women in Business Awards have launched, and we’re looking for nominations from the best businesswomen in the region. The awards, with headline sponsor Growth Partners, will be held on September 9 – with nominations closing on July 23. To enter, or for more information on the awards, visit the official website.
The awards will celebrate the accomplishments of businesswomen around Leicestershire across a variety of industries – recognising their dedication and skill, and the inspiration they provide to aspiring businesswomen. From the executives of large companies, to small business owners, to budding entrepreneurs – we look forward to honoring a range of incredible achievements on the night.
As such, we want as many nominations as possible, to ensure that we can showcase the best of the best on the evening of September 9. If you’re a businesswoman and you feel you’ve accomplished something worthy of note over the last year – or you know a businesswoman who has – we want to know about it.
There are 12 categories in total, with 10 that can be entered. There are categories for apprentices, small businesses, and innovative businesswomen just to name a few – so if you feel that you’re a good fit for one of the categories below, enter via the official website. Apprentice of the Year
This category recognises the best female apprentice. We are looking for nominations for apprentices from any sector of the business community. Nominees should be role models for other apprentices and be performing well on their apprenticeship.
Rising Star
This category recognises women who own or run new businesses or are fast rising career professionals working in Leicestershire. They should be able to demonstrate that they are progressing within their chosen profession, or that their business has consistently achieved growth.
Sole Trader of the Year
For women who work for themselves and run their business as an individual, this category celebrates the success and contribution made by sole traders in Leicestershire. Whether they are individuals who run businesses or women who are making a living by operating as a sole trader.
Inspirational Woman of the Year
This award is for a women who inspire and motivate others, or those who have overcome exceptional circumstances. The winner of this category will inspire others either through the example they set or through their own achievements. Nominees can either be outstanding leaders in their fields who inspire colleagues and others around them, or women who are achieving success in their chosen careers despite having to overcome adversity or challenges.
Digital Ambassador

The digital sector is one of the fastest growing in the UK. This category is for people whose job is related to working online. From web development to social media and app creation. This could include entrepreneurs who have built thriving digital businesses or employees who have helped the company they work for to grow their digital expertise.
Innovation in Business

This award will highlight and recognise individuals that have achieved the most innovative approach to overcome specific challenges, either by harnessing emerging technologies, researching and developing new techniques or marketing opportunities around new products or services.
Women in Construction
While the construction industry is traditionally male dominated, there are now more women than ever working in the sector. We aim to highlight outstanding examples of women working in the construction industry and we hope that celebrating their achievements will encourage other females to choose a career in the construction industry.
Entrepreneur of the Year
Recognises women who have demonstrated that they have built a business of outstanding potential. Nominees should be in control of a commercial undertaking. They act as the owner or manager and oversee the growth of the business. They should have vision and the ability to recognise business opportunities. Nominees should also have demonstrated a commitment to building their business.
New Business of the Year
This award recognises new business start-ups. Nominees should be running a business which has great potential to succeed, create jobs and contribute to their local economy. Nominees should be businesses which have been established within the last 18-months.
Small Business of the Year
This category will highlight the best female owned small business in Leicestershire. Entries are welcome from across all sectors. They should demonstrate that they have achieved consistent business growth since the business was established.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will be given to a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the business community. The winner of this award will be chosen by the judging panel. No entries are required.
Businesswoman of the Year 2021

This award will be given to an outstanding example of a businesswoman operating in Leicestershire. The winner of this award will be chosen by the judging panel. No entries are required.
