The NottinghamshireLive Business Awards are on for 2021, as we prepare to recognise the hard-won triumphs of businesses and individuals across the county. The awards, in association with Champions (UK) PLC, will be held on October 14 – for more information, visit the official website.

The last year has been a trying one for businesses across Nottinghamshire – with the coronavirus pandemic throwing companies and their employees into entirely unexpected situations. Many companies were forced to make drastic changes to the way they operated, and some simply had to stop altogether. Employees had to adapt to working at home, or to altered working environments – and many worked in close quarters with the public throughout the pandemic.

During such a difficult time, many businesses and businesspeople were concerned not just with what they could do to preserve their own success, but how they could help their community. Many businesses play vital roles in their local area, running programs to help vulnerable people, raising money for good causes, or leading efforts to preserve the environment.

The Contribution to the Community Award recognises companies that have shown a concerted commitment to improving the lives of those in their community. Such companies were a great help during the pandemic, and their work will be just as important beyond it – which makes it a real pleasure to celebrate those who have shown they care.

The finalists in the Contribution to the Community Award are:

Spenbeck

Spenbeck is an award-winning family business specialising in providing bespoke, sustainable and inclusive creative space in Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. It helps companies increase their profitability and growth by providing affordable bespoke, environmentally sustainable and healthy inclusive heritage creative spaces that help attract and retain top clients and employees. Spenbeck’s creative spaces have environmental sustainability at their core. It works closely with tenants to develop their Environmental Management System requirements, helping them achieve and maintain the highest possible sustainable standards.

Proludic

For more than 30 years, Proludic has been designing play equipment and outdoor sports and games areas. It aims to actively contribute towards children’s physical development and satisfy their need to grow and thrive by helping nurture and reinforce their emotional, sensory and cognitive abilities, as well as their creativity and sociability. Proludic’s dedicated sports and gym areas allow teenagers and adults to improve their well-being and increase their fitness in a friendly and dynamic environment, while promoting inclusion and building stronger social ties. It is a preferred partner for local authorities, schools, architects and landscape designers, campsites and shopping centres. The company is driven by its mission of transforming play areas into social hubs that promote and enhance community life through innovative, high-quality, safe, inclusive and universal solutions.

Wrights Roofing

Wrights Roofing is an award-winning roofing contractor with its core business focused on traditional roofing, and a strong emphasis on training and apprenticeships. Since its founding in 1991, it has expanded to work in partnership with local schools and local authorities throughout the East Midlands and Lincolnshire. Wrights Roofing is heavily involved with local communities and collaborates with local schools, including the Bulwell Academy.
