Tech companies merge to offer ‘enhanced cloud telecom services’
Two telecoms firms from South Wales have merged in a bid to offer their clients a real choice in telecoms cloud services that also caters to a flexible working approach.
Porthlas Communications has merged with the telecoms function of Kane Digital Solutions to form Kane Cloud Communications, which will continue to based in Ystrad Mynach.
The newly formed Kane Cloud Communications aims to recruit new staff to support its increased customer base.
Cardiff-based Porthlas Communications was established in 2011 by Gary Briscombe following a 30-year career with Mitel. The newly merged business will be fronted by directors Mr Briscombe and his son Tom, along with Adam Pryce and Wayne Baker from Kane Digital Solutions.
Speaking of the merger, Mr Briscombe said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for both businesses as we come together to offer a cloud-focused service to our customers which also allows us to guide clients to a more blended approach to working following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have worked with Kane for a number of years and have cross-referred business to one another, so there was a lot of existing synergy there. It makes perfect sense for the business to come under the new Kane Cloud Communications banner and all existing customers of both previously separate businesses have the opportunity to be migrated onto a comprehensive service platform.”

“Whilst Kane Digital Solutions will continue as a separate business, we’ll continue to leverage our 30 years’ experience of supporting customers, the telecoms function will now operate entirely via this merger with all customers benefitting from increased support, additional knowledge, experience and buying power.”
