A Gloucestershire architecture and design firm and a kitchenware retailer based in the county have been named on a list of the UK’s best place to work.
The firms were included on a list compiled by Great Place to Work – a workplace culture organisation that evaluated hundreds of employee surveys to draw up the rankings.
Kitchenware brand ProCook, which is headquartered in Gloucestershire and employs around 200 people in the area, was handed the certification after scoring an overall positivity rating of 83%.
The family-run business, which completed a float on the London Stock Exchange last year, scored more than 80% in areas including leadership behaviour and effectiveness, communication, camaraderie and community.
Sarah Wheatley, the company’s HR and ESG director, said: “Workplace satisfaction is key to the performance of any organisation so it is crucial we focus on the happiness of our employees and uphold ethical and inclusive business practices. It’s very rewarding to know our colleagues agree we’re doing a good job.”
Procook founder and chief executive Daniel O’Neill said he was “immensely proud” of the achievement.
He said: “We have done a huge amount of work to ensure our employees are provided with an environment that enables them to thrive. To receive such positive feedback from our own people tells us we’re on the right track, and to see we rank so highly amongst UK companies as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces is the icing on the cake.”
Earlier this month, Procook reported revenue growth and market share gains despite “more challenging“ trading conditions. In a Q4 trading update the Gloucestershire business saw revenue growth of 11.4% during the 12 weeks ended April 3, 2022 – up 83.1% on a two-year basis.
Cheltenham-based Pentadel Project Management, which was founded five years ago and manages the build of industrial facilities in the UK and overseas, was also named one of the UK’s best places to work.

According to Great Places to Work, every employee at the firm reported they were treated as a “full team member” regardless of position.
“This is an accolade that every single member of the Pentadel team should feel incredibly proud of,” said Amy Kemp, co-founder and director.
Jason Evetts, architectural technician, at Pentadel said the company offered a “stimulating, supportive, and culturally diverse” to work, while architectural technician Ewa Milobog said it was a great place to forge a career.
She added: “No two days are ever the same. Also, as a foreign national, I always feel welcome and respected at Pentadel – this is a really supportive and friendly environment.”
Luis Martins, a project manager at the company, added: “Working at Pentadel feels very special and it is, indeed, a Great Place to work! I feel extremely proud and happy, especially as I have been with the company since the beginning, which brings me a great sense of ownership and belonging.”
