talians living in London have been given an “enormous lift” by both their team and England’s success.
Supporters will be coming out in large numbers for the final, with many Italian restaurants and bars saying they are fully booked.
Antonio Polledri, who owns Bar Italia in Soho, said he has seen a change in his English and Italian customers over the last few weeks.
“This isn’t just about football,” he said. “The whole tournament has given Italians and English people such pride in their countries and hope for the future. It’s been a hard 18 months. But in the last few weeks there has been an enormous uplift. People are happy and they are excited.”
The restaurant and bar in Soho has been in Mr Polledri’s family for 72 years.
