Tesco recalls popular dip due to salmonella

Tesco is recalling its own-brand tzatziki dip because salmonella has been found in the product.

The supermarket giant has issued a warning to customers who have purchased the Tesco Tzatziki Dip 200g dipping pots with a use-by date of 24 November 2024.

It said the presence of salmonella was found in the product during routine testing.

Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps, according to the Food Standards Agency.

“If you have bought the above product do not eat it,” Tesco’s recall statement says.

“Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

It added no other Tesco products were affected by salmonella.

A batch of the same product was recalled back in 2021, though that was because it had been mispackaged with sour cream and chive dip, potentially posing a threat to customers with an egg allergy.
